Gov Bello defeats Nasko with 228,347 votes in Niger


Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, on Sunday emerged winner of the governorship election held yesterday in the state.

Sani Bello of the APC defeated his closest opponent in the race,  Umar Nasko of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 228,347 votes to win his second term bid.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commissioned (INEC)’s Returning Officer for Niger state, Professor Angela Freeman Miri,  the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate polled 526,412 votes while PDP got 298,065 votes.

“Having polled the highest votes, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is declared the winner of the election and so returned  elected,” she declared.

Baba Newsline reports that APC swept all the 25 local government areas of the state including Magama where the PDP candidate hailed from.

The results of 21 state House of Assembly elections made available to our correspondent also show that the APC win the entire 21 seats, with winners of the remaining 4 assembly seats yet unknown.
