1. Only 35% Registered Voters Voted In Presidential Election – INEC

Only 35 per cent of registered voters voted in Saturday’s presidential elections, according to the data released by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The percentage represents 28,614,190 people who cast their votes during the elections, representing 0.19 per cent less than the accredited voters, who made up a total of 35.66 per cent, that is 29,364, 209 of the total registered voters.

2. Abdusalami-Led Peace Committee Meets Atiku, Obi Behind Closed Doors

Some members of the National Peace Committee (NPC), led by a former military head of state, Abdusalami Abubakar, held a meeting with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Peter Obi, in Abuja. Baba Newsline reports that the meeting, which took place at the Secretariat of the National Peace Committee (NPC) on Thursday evening, had in attendance Abubakar, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Rev Fr Atta Barkindo and other members of the committee.

3. FG Reacts To Atiku’s Plan To Contest Presidential Election Result

The Federal Government says President Muhammadu Buhari is not worried about the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar’s plans to challenge the result of Saturday’s presidential election. Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, also from Adamawa state like Atiku, said there was nothing to worry about, adding that the election was credible, open and transparent.

4. Why ‘Unstable, Rolling Stone’ Atiku Can’t Be Nigeria’s President – Oshiomhole

Head of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole says former vice-president Atiku Abubakar cannot be Nigeria’s president because he is “a man who is not stable, and has no conviction.” According to him, Atiku’s interest was all about himself, following his comments during his campaigns that he was going to sell off some of Nigeria’s assets and enrich his friends, if he became president.

5. Presidency Finally Reveals When Buhari Will Dissolve Cabinet

The Presidency has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari is set to dissolve his cabinet before his inauguration for a second term in office on 29 May.  Spokesman for Buhari Femi Adesina, in an interview on Arise TV, said the president was expected to officially dissolve his cabinet at the expiration of his first tenure.

6. Arewa Youths Reject Presidential Election Result, Gives Reasons

Arewa Youth Consultative Forum has rejected the outcome of last Saturday’s presidential election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). National President of the AYCF, Yerima Shettima, in a statement on Thursday, expressed deep regret over the outcome of the polls. Shettima described the election as a charade, adding that INEC and its Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, played out the script of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

7. Court Sentences Former Air Force Chief To Seven-year Imprisonment

Retired Air Vice Marshal Tony Omenyi has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for money laundering. The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday passed the judgment after the Air-Force Chief was found guilty of  N136 million fraudulent charges.  Omenyi was said to have received a large amount of money from a contractor with the Nigerian Air Force, while he was a public officer.

8. Police Surround Venue Of Anti-Tinubu Rally In Lagos

Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, where some political activists held an anti-Tinubu rally on Thursday ahead of the March 9 governorship election was barricaded by policemen. Baba Newsline gathered that the group, under the auspices of the Orange Movement, converged on Oramiyan Hall in the hotel to strategize on how to stop Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from having his way in the election.

9. Bloomberg Names Dangote World’s 64th Richest Man

The Chairman of Dangote Group and Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote, has emerged as the 64th richest person in the world. Bloomberg, in its annual list of wealthiest people, noted that Dangote now has an estimated networth of $16.6billion and has risen from his previous ranking of 103rd. Dangote, who remains the richest man in Africa for the 8th year running, was the only Nigerian on the list of the top 500 billionaires.

10. Trump-Kim Summit Breaks Down With No Agreement

The much-talked-about meeting between United States President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ended without any agreement reached by the two leaders. According to reports, the United States President declined to yield to North Korean demands for sanctions relief.
