Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC), Friday morning declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmadu Fintiri, the winner of the Adamawa State governorship election. Fintiri polled 376,552 votes to defeat incumbent Governor Jibrilla Bindow of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bindow got 336,386 votes, while Senator Abdul-Azeez Nyako of the ADC scored 113,237, followed by SDP’s Emmanuel Bello, who polled 29,792 votes.

Justice Stephen Adah-led Court of Appeal in Abuja Thursday affirmed the victory of Kayode Fayemi at the July 14, 2018 Ekiti state governorship election. The Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had upheld Fayemi’s victory at the poll.And in a unanimous judgment, the three-man panel of the appeals court dismissed the appeal and affirmed the ruling of the tribunal.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is poised to suspend the multi-billion naira corruption probe of Bala Mohammed, surrendering to a constitutional provision that accords absolute immunity from criminal prosecution to an elected governor. Since his exit as FCT minister in 2015 and until his election this month, Mohammed faced corruption trial arising from alleged land racketeering.

Governor of Osun Adegboyega Oyetola and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), have approached the Court of Appeal in Abuja to reverse the judgment given on 22 March by the state election tribunal. The tribunal had, by a majority judgment of two members, voided the election of Oyetola and pronounced Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winner. It then asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him a certificate of return.
