Na’allah vs Sule-Iko Sami: What happened in court on Monday

The Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi, has fixed April 11, to commence hearing of witnesses in a case challenging the validity of Sen. Bala Na’Allah’s candidacy for Kebbi South Senatorial District.

Prince Sule-Iko Sami has challenged Na’Allah’s validity to contest for a second term at the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election held in October 2018.

Justice Sunday Onu, fixed the date following the oral application made by the second defendant’s Counsel Ebeneza Ogolena, holding brief for Mr Afraimu Jingi, to enable them file their application for an extension of time.

Supporting the application for adjournment, the first respondent’s Counsel Sanusi Samaila, told the court that since the case started, he had not filed any processes before the court, NAN reports

“We are ready to file in all our processes and call 14 witnesses across the senatorial district that comprises seven local government areas of Kebbi South Senatorial zone.

“For this reason my lord, we have no objection to the adjournment,” Samaila said.

The third respondent’s Counsel Adeyemo Ifeoluwa, on her part, informed the court that she intended to call three witnesses and support the submission of the second respondent’s counsel seeking for the adjournment.

“So, my lord, we have no objection to that,” Ifeoluwa said.

The Plaintiff’s Counsel Usman Hajji, expressed satisfaction with the decision of the presiding judge to hear witnesses on the fixed date.

Hajji assured the court that he would present all his witnesses on the adjourned date.
