Pope Obumneme Odonwodo, AKA Junior Pope
Junior Pope, whose real name was Pope Obumneme Odonwodo, was a renowned Nigerian actor and film producer born on May 7, 1984, in Bamenda, Cameroon¹.
He began his acting career in 2006 and gained prominence with the 2007 film "Secret Adventures" directed by Tchidi Chikere¹. Over the years, he starred in over 100 Nollywood films, including notable titles like "Throne of Tears" (2008), "Always Mine" (2009), "Mad Sex", "Blood Afair" (2021), "Gbege" (2022), and "No Way Through" (2023)¹.
Junior Pope was the only child of his parents and moved to Nigeria for his primary and secondary education¹. After completing his studies in Accounting, he shifted his focus to acting, which led to a successful career in the Nollywood film industry¹.
He married Jennifer Awele Okpuno in 2014, whom he met through Facebook, and together they had three children¹. Junior Pope was a Christian and was known for his onscreen and offscreen chemistry, which was widely praised in the Nollywood fraternity¹.
Tragically, Junior Pope passed away on April 10, 2024, at the age of 39, in a boat accident on the River Niger in Asaba, Delta State, while on his way to shoot a movie¹.
